The bar chart illustrates the world production output of Asia, Europe and the rest of the world in five different years, from 1840 to 2000. Overall, Europe’s production increased considerably until 1920 before declining, while Asia showed the opposite trend. Meanwhile, the output of the rest of the world generally rose throughout the period. In 1840, Asia was the largest producer, with an output of 50 units, compared with 40 units for Europe and only 10 units for the rest of the world. By 1880, Asia’s figure had fallen to 30, whereas Europe’s production had risen to 45. The rest of the world also experienced an increase, reaching approximately 26 units. In 1920, Europe reached its highest level at 50 units, while Asia declined further to just 20 units. The figure for the rest of the world continued to grow, reaching 30 units. In 1960, Europe’s output decreased to around 38 units, while Asia rose slightly to 25 units. At the same time, the rest of the world increased significantly to about 38 units, equal to Europe. By 2000, Asia had become the largest producer again, with approximately 45 units. In contrast, Europe fell to 28 units. The rest of the world continued to increase, reaching around 32 units.
